Truly, the theatre experience has never been so unique. I don’t think that any of us could have ever imagined a year for performing arts quite like this. The world is changing, morphing into something new, and we have all taken our own new paths into this great unknown. The show itself has also been on a journey, changing from the musical “Working,” to this play, the “Metamorphoses,” in such a short time after auditions were conducted. The wonderful group of actors never wavered, and everyone involved kept up an incredible commitment to the show despite the circumstance. The first day of hybrid rehearsals was strange, navigating the new energy formed in a six foot distance was certainly challenging, but also thrilling. Incorporating those using Teams into our space and finding creative ways to include the remote experience as well as the pandemic itself into the show by way of costume and set design brought us all a strange obstacle to collaborate on. Everyone in this extraordinary team of actors, directors, crew, stage managers and more brought their own unforgettable voices to the performance, and we’re all so excited to show you what we’ve been working towards.
In a world where we rarely give attention to our mythic side, we invite you to join the cast in this telling of “Metamorphoses,” and connect with ancient Greek tales of love, greed, adventure, horror, and transformation through the voices of weary travelers moving through the 1936 Dust Bowl. This is a show about humanity, a show about change, and truly a show about hope. As we begin to return to one another and connect in these times of transition and healing, let us come together as a community to celebrate the spectacle and experience that unites us all universally; words.
